Angry about the Healthcare Bill: Rob Andrews will speak Monday in Camden

We received a tip today that Congressman Rob Andrews will discuss the new healthcare law at Camden County College April 19th at 7:00 PM. The Camden County College Center for Civic Leadership and Responsibility list the event as follows:

Congressman Rob Andrews Discusses the New Health Care Law
Date: Monday, April 19, 2010

Location: Civic Hall inside the Connector Building, Blackwood Campus

Congressman Rob Andrews will be discussing the new Health Care Law. The program will consist of three parts – the Congressman will explain the details of the law; the audience will be able to ask questions to clarify information and then the audience will have the opportunity to comment on the law and offer suggestions for the Congressman to take back to Washington. Dr. John Pesda, professor of history at CCC, will introduce Congressman Andrews and moderate the discussion.

For more information about this event, visit www.camdencc.edu/civiccenter or call 856-227-7200, x4333.

Registration is not required.

As most of you know, we listed Rob Andrewss as our number one traitor to New Jersey for his vote on the healthcare legislation. Perhaps someone can ask him what he is doing in return for the close to 1 million dollars in healthcare lobbyist contributions? And was that the price for selling our New Jersey or is there more? (From this link at PolitickerNJ)

A Republican congressional candidate wants to know if nearly $1 million in campaign contributions by health care lobbyists influenced U.S. Rep. Rob Andrews (D-Haddon Heights) to play a leading role in getting the health care reform bill passed by Congress.

Rev. Dale Glading, Andrews’ opponent, says that Andrews has received $954,930 from health care lobbyists.

The Star Ledger 'staff' are apparently racists!

This evening I was reviewing an article on NJ.com entitled "N.J. Tea Party searching for political control, unified message". The article is attributed to "Star-Ledger Staff". In the body of the article early on), you find the following:

The eight men and three women — including an advertising executive, an ordained minister, a full-time mom who doubles as a part-time education advocate, a former state senator and, at the head of the table, the Clifton resident seeking to unite them under his leadership — are perhaps the closest thing to a central nervous system the tea party has in the Garden State.

They had a lot to talk about. The all-white group debated whether a new acronym for "TEA" — "total equality for all," instead of "taxed enough already" — could attract more minority members. They questioned whether a Fourth of July rally would conflict with too many people’s barbecue plans, and they vetted a congressional candidate seeking their support for the Republican nomination.

I am going to issue a challenge. If they Star Ledger can show me one article about alleged Democrat or liberal protestors where they described any group by whether or not they were caucasian, black, asian etc, I would like to see it. I have never seen them describe a Code Pink protest as "all white" even though they are as lily white as any protest organization anywhere.

I can only draw the conclusion that this was purposeful and an attempt to describe these people as reacists. And the only racists I see are the staff of the Star Ledger.

Sick: NJ Education Union wants Christie Dead

WCBSTV is reporting today that the Bergen County Record obtained a memo that including a prayer for the death of Governor Chris Christie:

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie isn't laughing about a teachers union's memo that hints of his death.

The memo is the latest salvo in a war of words between Christie and the union over wage and benefits concessions.

The Record of Bergen County obtained the Bergen County Education Association memo that includes a closing prayer:

"Dear Lord this year you have taken away my favorite actor, Patrick Swayze, my favorite actress, Farrah Fawcett, my favorite singer, Michael Jackson, and my favorite salesman, Billy Mays. I just wanted to let you know that Chris Christie is my favorite governor."

Isn't it interesting that a "teachers" union would be circulating memos calling for the death of a state governor? And in a hilarious twist, a prayer. I thought the NJ teachers unions didn't believe in prayer in schools!

Here's hoping that there is a criminal investigation. That's what national Democrats would call for if this was a Republican.

You can read the article here. And here.

Another Vacation story: Connie Denault - Florida conservative

Given that I have already posted the pics from the American Solutions event and protest in St Petersburg, most of you are aware of my vacation protest encounter. While walking around, I spoke to some folks at the event in support of the American Solutions event and conservative thinking in general.

One of the folks was Connie Denault. He is running for State Representative for district 52. I talked to his people and then to Connie himself (above) and was impressed with their simple yet powerful approach to change in Florida. Connie's campaign is promoting three things:

1. Creating jobs
2. Cutting wasteful spending
3. Reforming Florida's insurance mess

They are battling an incumbent that may have lost touch with the needs of Floridians. It seems to me that the folks in St Pete should take a look at Connie. I know I am from New Jersey and maybe should just butt out...but I like what I heard. We need politicians like Connie here.

Vacation Story - Protesting American Solutions

So I am on vacation with my family at Phillies Spring training. We return back to the hotel and there is extra security and we have to be passed through to the front entrance. Since I didn't go anywhere without my camera last week, I had to take see what was going on. As it turns out, Newt Gingrich was in the hotel as a part of an American Solutions presentation. And the protestors were trying to take advantage of the press coverage of the event.

This one was my favorite.

That was until I got closer and figured out that instead of oil, she was covered in CHOCOLATE!

All these people dressed the same. They aren't wearing purple so it must be some other Pelosi "astroturf" group.

And all this just to see Newt!

From all indications, the crowd for the event was strong. It appeared to be a "who's who" of the local conservative political community in St Petersburg. The event was free to the public and most of the attendees looked to be eager and receptive to the "idea based" presentation that Speaker Gingrich was there to promote. So the next time someone tried to call "tea partiers" the rowdies, compare the inside pictures to the outside photos here and make your own decision.
