Barack Obama's Preacher

I just watched Barack Obama address the news about his preacher's hateful rhetoric on FOX. As far as I am concerned, his answers were fine with me. He doesn't come across as a hatemonger as far as I have seen and frankly it is silly that this has become an issue. And for the record, I am a conservative Catholic. I have no issue with the Church of Christ even though I may have an issue with a lot of what his preacher has to say. But I think we need to seperate the preacher from the acolyte.

Why all of a sudden is this in the public arena? Does this have something to do with the kitchen sink? Time will tell. But pasting this guy over an evangelical sermon is a bit over the top. Have YOU ever been to an evangelical service? I have. And frankly, I found it all over the top for my taste but absolutely NOT wrong in any way. Just not for me.

This whole country is full of hate, Florida is hate, everyone is just mad because a BLACK MAN is going for the WHITE (KKK) House. The media is always creating hate because they are apart of the biggest hate group in the world, The illuminati Elite, Rupert Murdock, Bush cousin.

THE GUY THAT I SEE IS PREACHING THE TRUTH! IT IS ONLY HATE WHEN THE TRUTH COMES FROM A BLACK MAN AND REVEAL THE WHITE HATE GROUPS FOR WHAT THEY ARE!

WELL LET’S LOOK AT BUSH PREACHER AND ALL THE WHITE Politicians PREACHER THAT PREACH HATE OF WOMEN, BLACKS, GOD. THEY WORSHIP SATIN!

SEE FOR YOUR SELF

It isn't hate. The funny thing is that this country REALLY like Barack Obama. The real question is if his policies can moderate and he can become someone everyone can get behind. The hate argument sells him short.

As for the illuminati, I have studied all of that. Outside of over the top goofiness, I am not sure where you are coming from.

i can not believe that what obama said was enough for you or anyone else.... a church a pastor is a choice. 20 years of attendance and thousands of dollars of contributions is the choice obama made.
what did you expect him to do? admit he shared the thoughts and beliefs then we would all hate him..
are you that easily fooled?
remember the old photos where he will not put his hand on his heart . michelle is not been proud of her country... this is just another piece of the puzzle...
people like you are going to get us into a real mess with your votes

I would address anonymous but we have a couple of these and they appear to be on opposite sides. As far as my vote is concerned, it has already been cast in a different primary as previously mentioned on this blog. And please note that this blog is about opinions and free speech and doesn't representing a voting booth.

You are free to be afraid of Obama. In the post following this one I mentioned why I would have a very hard time voting for the policy programs Obama espouses due to their outright cost. But I suspect you didn't bother to read that since my gut says you are the byproduct of a campaign and are just following searchs that mention names or topics.

Our regulars usually leave their name.

I think Americans like to think of themselves as over racism and over the slave guilt. That's how they are able to keenly support Barack. When it gets a little too close to the angry black man, the working class black as opposed to Barack's whiter than white, the fear rises. Personally I sympathise with Preacher guy, there is a great deal of justified anger on the part of black people in the US, it would be wierd if there wasn't, since black communities generally are still very much second class citizens with limited opportunity, and prejudice throughout society is rampant. We have to accept that, in this modern communicatins era, people everywhere know what is going on, and where there is repression, there will be anger. I write for a paper in Africa as well as in te UK, and we are all fascinated with the US election and if it is possible for a black man to do well in America. I wish you all well from the UK. Jill

You are absolutely right on! When most of us see Barack Obama(even when we disagree with his policies) we see an articulate man with an approach that is different and refreshing while also not being afraid to speak about topics that are uncomfortable. While he is being tagged a bit on details, his speeches are excellent and he delivers when the pressure is on. That is an amazing contrast to Hillary who can't seem to get beyond the "fingernails on the chalkboard" oratory style no matter how hard she tries.

But Obama's preacher does represent moving backward when Barack is moving forward. Saying the US invented AIDS to sabotage the black community is just paranoid ranting. But regular rank and file citizens in this country neither believe or care for that kind of rhetoric. We would all rather Rev Wright tell the truth and preach (much like Bill Cosby) that our absolutely disasterous social policy which has incented black women to push men out of their lives to be able to survive when they make a mistake early in life. We would like to be chastised not on bs but on how we have not supported the black family and helped them build a foundation of community that starts as family first and then assistance to make them grow and excel in society. Said in a different way, everyone is tired of race hustlers that preach a victimhood message that doesn't help anyone but them.

We see Barack Obama as a potential for change in the old way of dealing with race that Americans have willingly paid billions to help and seen nothing but broken families, broken neighborhoods and resentment. And in that initiative, Reverend Wright represents an massive boat anchor on Mr Obama's efforts.

I agree with the person who wrote, they don’t believe that Obama is being treated fairly; in regards to the issue of his preacher. I feel that Senator Obama was getting to close to becoming our next presidential candidate. Someone said we can not let this African American become President; so let’s start digging up anything and everything we can to prevent him from winning the nomination. As the American people are so STUPID they won’t figure out what we’re doing, and we will keep this issue going….day after day after day; and to tell the truth I don’t believe I am the only one who feels this way. This is just like the story about Anna Nicole; people got so sick of listening to it, and seeing it; especially from the news media on a constant basis. Even Lou Dobbs, said he was sick of it and wasn’t going to put it on the news anymore. Now it seems even Lou has a grudge against Senator Obama. They act like Hilary Clinton is a saint, and she has misrepresented herself on more than one occasion, and has promised things she can’t possibly deliver. She hops on and off her fence when it is in her best interest. And CRIES to get her own way, boy what a president she’ll make!!! No change. So I ask you voters, to look beyond the color of the skin, and the beyond his religion and vote for the person who will change this country back into the country we were once so proud of. That is “by the people for the people,” not for the government or the prestige they receive.
